I've been sitting on this one for about a week now, and I can't hold the heat no more, I gots to release it. I am currently crushing like a little girl for this band called Giant Drag.
I've included a flash player with the song YFLMD (which stands for You Fuck Like My Dad) for your listening pleasure.
I was flipping through my free copies of Blender magazine, and I noticed over the course of two issues that Giant Drag was mentioned, albeit in short bursts, and both times the lead singer, Annie Hardy caught my eye.
See she seemed to fit the bill of this adorably edgy typecast that i've been hooked on lately, thanks in part to the Gotham Girls Roller Derby and the SuicideGirls Tour documentary both of which I was exposed to recently.
Since then I've listened to pretty much nothing but Giant Drag and even felt compelled to email to Blender thanking them for bringing the band to my attention, again not unlike a little girl who might send her doodled poems for Chad Michael Murray to Tiger Beat.
Regardless of my age/gender, Giant Drag is Annie Hardy and Micah Calabrese and their debut album Hearts and Unicorns is amazing and the band seems fast-tracked for success.
I'm in this still-obessed, want-to-spend-every-minute-with-you type of state about this band and since it lasted at least a week, i figured it was safe to mention to others and share the joy...but perhaps you're more of an indie scene guru than me, maybe you're in LA and you saw Giant Drag play some local shows before they even had a set list, and if this is the case I apologize for wasting your time, but you don't have to be a condescending prick about it.
You can listen to their whole album for free at GiantDrag.com.
